Celtic & Scots Language Song Competition
HOME
Nòs Ùr (meaning ‘new style’ in Scottish Gaelic) is a song competition in the Celtic and Scots languages which is a regional final for the pan-European minority languages song competition – Liet International. Languages accepted in Nòs Ùr are: Scots & Ulster Scots, Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic, Manx Gaelic, Welsh, Cornish, Breton.
There will be no Nòs Ùr competition in 2010 but it is hoped that Nòs Ùr will continue in 2011.
If you would like like to learn more about Liet International please visit the Liet International website.
“Initiatives such as the Nòs Ùr regional contest and Liet International, where Europe's regional and minority languages are in the limelight, provide an ideal opportunity to give these languages a new lease of life and a positive image which is often sorely lacking, particularly among young people. What better way to unite people, than with the universal language of music? These events substantially contribute to the richness of Europe, its culture and its diversity.”
